Waiting for the Tide Change ~ Great Blue Heron (Still in progress)

Great Blue Heron artwork …in progress. The studio does accept offers on in-progress artwork (before its completion,) and this is a great time to acquire a piece at a good price.

Artist’s note :

I found this heron hanging out at a west Pasco County boat ramp, doing some preening and fluffing of its feathers as it waited for the tide change. Like other wading birds that become regulars in good fishing spots, Great Blue Herons are often jokingly called “Fred.”

I am opting for a looser than usual approach to brushwork here, to liven up the atmosphere around the heron; I am also preparing to take a more experimental, impressionistic tack with the colors. Sometimes a little experimentation can lead me down an interesting rabbit hole or two, and it is fun.
